These Terms (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Unveil browser extension, our website, and associated services (collectively, the “Service”). For legal purposes, “Unveil,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean the Operator identified in the Chrome Web Store listing, on our website, or in other official notice in effect at the time of your use. By installing, accessing, or using the Service after being given notice of these Terms, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2.1 Eligibility
You may use the Service only if you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, you comply with these Terms and all applicable laws, and your use is not prohibited where you live. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and you may not use it if doing so would violate applicable minimum-age or digital-consent laws.
2.2 Distribution via the Chrome Web Store
If you installed the Service through the Chrome Web Store, your use is also subject to Google’s applicable terms and policies. These Terms are between you and Unveil, not Google. Google is not responsible for the Service or for addressing any claims relating to it.
2.3 What Unveil Is
Unveil is a browser extension that summarizes publicly available return-policy, shipping-fee, and import-duty information on e-commerce pages. Unveil has no affiliate relationships or commercial partnerships with any retailer — summaries are generated independently and are not influenced by any retailer payment or referral arrangement.
2.4 License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Unveil grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the Service for your own lawful personal use. You may not: reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code except where that restriction is prohibited by law; remove proprietary notices; use the Service to build a competing product; interfere with or disrupt the Service; bypass security, rate limits, or access controls; or use the Service unlawfully.
2.5 Not Legal, Financial, or Customs Advice
Unveil’s summaries are generated by automated AI analysis of publicly posted policy text and are for informational purposes only. They are not legal, financial, or customs/import advice, and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always confirm details directly with the retailer before making a purchase decision based on an Unveil summary. Where Unveil flags that import duties or fees may apply, it does not calculate or guarantee any amount.
2.6 AI-Assisted Features
Certain features use AI to read and summarize page content. You acknowledge that AI outputs are generated automatically and may contain errors or omissions, that you remain solely responsible for reviewing and deciding whether to rely on any output, and that we may change the underlying AI or inference providers from time to time. We do not warrant that AI output will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.
2.7 Subscription & Billing
$2.99/month or $24.99/year, billed via Stripe. A valid payment method is required to start your 14-day free trial; you will be charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel first. Cancel anytime via the account-management link in the extension (Stripe customer portal). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not provide partial refunds for unused time except where required by law.
2.8 Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to: violate any law, regulation, or third-party right; upload malicious code or harmful material; probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without authorization; scrape, extract, or systematically harvest Service data except through authorized features for your own data; interfere with another user’s use; or damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Service. You also agree not to use the Service in a way that violates the terms of service of the websites you visit.
2.9 Feedback and User Content
If you submit feedback, suggestions, or bug reports, you grant Unveil an unrestricted, royalty-free right to use them without obligation to you, provided we remain subject to our Privacy Policy regarding any personal information they contain. For any other content you submit through the Service, you grant Unveil a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process it solely as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service and to comply with law. You represent that you have the rights to any content you submit.
2.10 Intellectual Property
The Service — including its software, design, text, graphics, interfaces, trademarks, and logos — is owned by Unveil or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property and other laws. Except for the limited license expressly granted above, no right, title, or interest in the Service is transferred to you. Third-party names and marks (including retailers’ marks appearing in summaries) remain the property of their respective owners.
2.11 Third-Party Services
The Service relies on and integrates with third-party services (including Anthropic, Stripe, and Vercel) and reads publicly available content from the retailer pages you visit. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, completeness, or legality of third-party services or content. Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms.
2.12 Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by the Unveil Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you acknowledge that we may process information as described there.
2.13 Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that any summary or estimate will be accurate or complete, or that defects will be corrected. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.
2.14 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UNVEIL AND ITS OPERATORS, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE — INCLUDING ANY PURCHASE DECISION, FINANCIAL LOSS, OR CUSTOMS CHARGE ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON A SUMMARY. UNVEIL’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO USE THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (b) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50). Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
2.15 Indemnity
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Unveil and its operators, licensors, and service providers from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses arising out of or related to your use or misuse of the Service, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
2.16 Suspension and Termination
We may suspend, limit, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, your use poses a security/legal/technical risk, we are required to by law, or continuing is no longer commercially or technically feasible. You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and canceling any active subscription. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute provisions).
2.17 Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may update these Terms from time to time; for material changes we will update the effective date or provide other reasonable notice. Continued use after the revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance.
2.18 Dispute Resolution; Governing Law; Venue
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to first try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us at support@unveil.shopping with a short description of the issue and the relief requested; if unresolved within 30 days, either party may pursue a formal claim. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and any dispute not subject to another agreed mechanism must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located there, to which each party consents. [Confirm governing-law state with an attorney — drafted to match the DBA filing.] Nothing prevents either party from seeking relief in small-claims court or seeking injunctive relief for misuse, infringement, or unauthorized access. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
2.19 Binding Arbitration; Class-Action Waiver; Jury-Trial Waiver
PLEASE READ — THIS SECTION AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.
- Agreement to arbitrate. Except for the carve-outs below, you and Unveil agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, not in court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this provision.
- Class-action waiver. You and Unveil agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims or preside over any representative or class proceeding.
- Jury-trial waiver. To the extent any dispute proceeds in court, you and Unveil each waive any right to a jury trial.
- Carve-outs. Either party may still (a) bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and (b) seek injunctive or equitable relief in court for misuse of the Service or infringement/misappropriation of intellectual property or unauthorized access.
- Informal resolution first. The 30-day informal-resolution step in §2.18 is a precondition to commencing arbitration.
- 30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement and class-action waiver by sending written notice to support@unveil.shopping within 30 days of first accepting these Terms; opting out does not affect the rest of these Terms.
- Provider, rules, venue, fees. [To be specified — arbitration provider and its consumer rules, hearing format/location, and who pays filing and arbitrator fees.]
- Severability / blow-up. If the class-action waiver is held unenforceable as to a particular claim, only that claim proceeds in court; the remainder of this section survives.
2.20 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly incorporated by reference, are the entire agreement between you and Unveil regarding the Service and supersede prior understandings on the subject.
